This booklet is an in‐depth study about prayer adapted and expanded from the Self-Confrontation manual, Lesson 3. It is an even more in-depth study about a set of astonishing truths: that God speaks to us through His Word and that He gives us the ability and privilege to speak to Him in return.
The study is broken into 17 short segments in a workbook format with Scripture passages to look up and questions to answer. Designed for both personal or small group studies, even those who have been believers for a long time will be challenged by the wealth of content in this study.
We often relegate prayer to the times when we are most desperate. But we find in the Scriptures that the true value of prayer is not so much about God’s changing our circumstances but about His changing us. It is more about His conforming us to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29), and not so much about trying to conform His will to our desires.
Topics in this study include:
– What we are to pray
– How we are to pray
– When we are to pray
– The result of our prayer
– Commands regarding prayer
– Examples of people who prayed
– Scriptures that record Jesus praying
– Scriptures that tell what Jesus prayed
Use in your personal devotional study time to deepen in your understanding of what to pray and how to practice prayer throughout your day. This is part of our abiding in Christ.

The What God’s Word Says about Prayer booklet is designed specifically for use as a small group or discipleship Bible study. Group participants study each lesson at home before covering the material in the group. This format helps build into the group members the regular habits of Bible study, prayer, Scripture memory, and obedience to the Lord. Participants who do not do the homework can still follow the key points during the group time. They just may not get the full benefit of the study.
The bundle enables you to study the Self-Confrontation course on your own. The Self-Confrontation manual is the reference book for the course while the Student Workbook leads you through key Scripture passages and points you to relevant portions of the Self-Confrontation manual.
Living Victoriously in the Battles of Life is a 7-week study about Christians living victoriously in the daily battles and struggles of life. It is also about how to come alongside and help others through those challenging times.
The booklet is in a workbook format, and focuses on practical application in your daily life, providing passages for you to look up, and spaces for you to answer questions.
The Biblical Principles booklet contains all of the 105 biblical principles from the Self-Confrontation manual as well as 32 principles from the Handbook for Biblical Discipleship / Counseling available in one package.
The Buts of the Bible series is a personal or small-group study in workbook format with Scripture passages to read and questions to answer. Each lesson focuses on one biblical character (or group of characters). Rather than looking at their entire lives, this study focuses on particular events or “crossroads” in their lives to direct us toward practical application in our lives today.
