Handbook
for the Ministry of Biblical
Discipleship / Counseling

 The Handbook for the Ministry of Biblical Discipleship/Counseling has been developed as a reference to help the biblical discipler / counselor maintain his biblical focus in ministering to those with problems. It is also used as a basic resource in all BCF training courses beyond the Self-Confrontation course.

The Handbook consists of four major
sections, which include:

  • Biblical principles for the focus and conduct of both the discipler/counselor and the disciple/counselee,
  • A master plan for the ministry of biblical discipleship / counseling, which is an outline of the procedure to follow throughout the discipleship/counseling process.
  • Essential precepts for the training of the biblical discipler/counselor, and
  • Resource helps and forms for use in the ministry of biblical discipleship / counseling. These include guidelines for gathering information during discipleship / counseling meetings, completing homework assignments for training in ministry, and standards of conduct for biblical discplers / counselors.

 This Handbook is an outstanding tool to be kept at hand by all disciplers / counselors through years of ministry, and can be used as a resource for:

  • Planning and conducting discipleship / counseling meetings with all who ask for help in facing, dealing with, and enduring the trials of life,
  • Training others in the ministry of biblical discipleship / counseling,
  • Evaluating one's own ministry for biblical focus and conduct, and
  • Photocopying useful forms for the ministry of biblical discipleship / counseling

Level 2 Syllabus

 The Level 2 Syllabus is a set of lesson plans for the student attending the second BCF training course in biblical discipleship / counseling.

The Level 2 Syllabus provides guidance
for conducting small-group role-plays. It
includes helps on how to develop biblical
plans for discipleship / counseling
meetings and how to evaluate homework
of the disciple / counselee.

This training allows adaptation to a wide variety of discipleship / counseling opportunities in an ongoing ministry within the local body of believers.

The emphasis in Level 2 is on how to disciple / counsel through a practical application of biblical truths and principles. Level 2 is normally taught in two-hour classes one day a week for 14 weeks .

Also included are helpful student exercises, demonstration role-plays, and a consistent review of biblical principles basic to discipleship / counseling.

The Level 2 Instructor's Guide: Weekly is designed for teaching a two-hour class once a week for 13 weeks.

Course 3 Syllabus

 The Course III Syllabus is a set of lesson plans for the student attending the third BCF training course in biblical discipleship / counseling.

The Course III Syllabus contains eight role-plays which require active participation as assistant and lead disciplers / counselors. The role-playing is broadened by dealing with multiple disciples/counselees.		 Emphasis in Level 3 is on improving
the ability to disciple / counsel through practice in role-plays. The course builds on the foundation laid by Level 2 and is designed to help you improve and extend biblical plans for discipleship / counseling meetings and apply the Scriptures as your only authority for faith, conduct, and counsel. Additional topics are included, such as how to avoid taking responsibilities of disciples / counselees upon yourself. This course is designed to be taught in two-hour classes one day a week for 13 weeks.
